Australia notch-up their highest T20 World Cup total

Against their arch-rivals England, Australia scored 201, their highest-ever total in T20 World Cup history

The clash between England and Australia, on June 8 (Saturday), was expected to follow in the footsteps of the relatively low-scoring T20 World Cup. However, David Warner and Travis Head decided to do otherwise, with a high-risk, high-reward partnership at the top, scoring 70 runs in just 30 balls.ย

Their partnership at the top set up the perfect platform, and with contributions from Mitchell Marsh (35 off 25), Marcus Stoinis (30 off 17) and a late cameo from Matthew Wade (17 off 10) took the 2021 T20 World Cup champions to their highest T20 World Cup total - 201/7.ย

Incidentally, it was the first time Australia had surpassed the 200-run mark in the competition's history. Previously, Australiaโ€™s highest total in the tournament was 197/7 against Pakistan in the 2010 edition.ย

It also surpassed the highest total in this yearโ€™s edition, surpassing the United States of Americaโ€™s 197/3. Unfortunately, England were on the receiving end of things, with the third-highest total against them, only behind South Africaโ€™s 229 and Indiaโ€™s 218.
