Australia A women set to take on India A in multi-format series in August

It will serve as an ideal way for both teams to prepare ahead of the much-awaited Women’s T20 World Cup in October

Later in August this year, Australia A will take on India A in a multi-format series consisting of three T20s in Brisbane, three 50-over games in Mackay and a four-day contest in Queensland. The first of the three T20s starts on August 7, with the first 50-over game on August 14 while the four-day contest begins on August 22.

Australia’s vice-captain, Tahlia McGrath, will lead the Australian A side in the white-ball formats, which also consists of Australia regulars Kim Garth, Megan Schutt and Tayla Vlaeminck. Charli Knott will lead the setup in the longest format, with several talents in the squad across formats.

"I'm really looking forward to being a part of this series and for the challenge that India A will pose," McGrath said. "It presents those of us not playing in the Hundred with the chance to prepare for a huge summer against a strong opposition."

Shawn Flegler, the national selector, said: "This series will allow us to take a closer look at some of the players who have impressed at domestic level while giving the nationally contracted players the chance to fine tune their preparations ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup."

Australia’s next international tour will be in mid-September when they take on New Zealand in a three-match T20I series before the start of the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
