5 key highlights from India's win over Zimbabwe in third T20I

Missed the game? Worry not. We have got you covered!

41 runs in first three overs

Shubman Gill (49-ball 66) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (27-ball 36) got India off to a fiery start, smashing 41 runs in the first three overs of the third T20I against Zimbabwe on July 10 (Wednesday).

It all started with Jaiswal getting 15 runs off Brian Bennett before Gill hit Richard Ngarava for 14 runs. Tendai Chatara conceded 12 in the third over. A total of three sixes and four fours were hit in the first 18 deliveries.

The slow downĀ

Gill and Jaiswal put on 67 runs for the opening wicket but both slowed down after the first three overs.

In fact, India scored only 48 runs in the next eight overs, with Sikandar Raza doing the majority of the damage. In his first three overs, the Zimbabwe captain picked up two wickets and gave away only 10 runs.

Gaikwad gives India a rapid finish

Batting at No.4, Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed 49 off 28 deliveries, studded with four fours and three maximums.

Thanks to him, India scored 93 runs in the last eight overs.Ā

Zimbabwe lose five inside seven overs

Chasing 182, Zimbabwe got off to a terrible start. Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed removed Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Brian Bennett in the space of 19 deliveries.

Washington Sundar then dismissed Sikandar Raza and Johnathan Campbell in the seventh over and reduced Zimbabwe to 39/5.

Dion Myers makes a mark

It looked like Zimbabwe would get bundled out pretty quickly but Dion Myers (65* off 49) had other ideas. The 22-year-old added 77 runs with Clive Madande (26-ball 37) for the sixth wicket.

Myers brought up his maiden international fifty as Zimbabwe put up a great fight in the last 13 overs. They lost the game by 23 runs but the story could have been different if Zimbabwe hadnā€™t dropped those chances in the first innings.
