5 highlights from Nepal's agonising defeat to South Africa

The Proteas escaped with a one-run victory in a hard-fought match in St Vincent

De Kock's poor form continues

Quinton de Kock's poor form is a major concern for South Africa heading into the Super Eights. The southpaw now has scores of 20, 0, 19, and 10 in the T20 World Cup and has managed just 116 runs (SR 130.23) in T20Is this year.

Bhurtel surprises the Proteas

Part-time leg-spinner Kushal Bhurtel bowled an immaculate spell, accounting for four wickets, that played a pivotal role in restricting South Africa to 114/7.

Stubbs' finishing touch

Coming in at six, Tristan Stubbs proved his prowess as a finisher smashing an unbeaten 27 off just 18 deliveries in a low-scoring match to give his bowlers something to bowl at. He was particularly severe on the on-side.

Nepal collapse

Nepal had the match in control before they went from 99/3 to 100/6 in a span of six deliveries, which included the wicket of a well-set Aasif Sheikh (42), who was given an early life by Kagiso Rabada.

Shamsi's match-winning spell

Playing his first game in the T20 World Cup 2024, Tabraiz Shamsi showed his class against Nepal.

He started off with two wickets in his first over and then returned to remove Airee and Sheikh at the death in quick succession to give South Africa the edge.
