Follow UsThe Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have extended Mustafizur Rahman’s leave by one more day so that he could be available for the Chennai Super Kings' clash against Punjab Kings on May 1, 2024, before arriving in Bangladesh on May 2 for the T20 series against Zimbabwe.
"Mustafizur was supposed to return after April 30 but now we have allowed him to stay back for their match on May 1st. He is expected to arrive on May 2 for the T20 series against Zimbabwe and later we are not ready to release him as we want to rest him for a few days before the World Cup," a BCB official told Cricbuzz.
Mustafizur Rahman is enjoying a terrific run of form at the moment, having taken 10 wickets in five matches for CSK at an average of 18.30. His new-ball bowling has allowed the five-time champions to employ the likes of Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur more judiciously in the middle and death overs.
Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series before flying to the USA where they will play against the home side in another three-match T20I series from May 21 to May 25.
In the ICC T20 World Cup, Bangladesh are placed alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and Nepal in Group D and will start their campaign by playing against Asian rivals Sri Lanka on June 7 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas.
