It's about having a strong core, upper body: Fraser-McGurk on power-hitting

The Australia batter has slammed 247 runs for DC this season at an impressive strike rate of 237.50

Jake Fraser-McGurk set the tone once for Delhi Capitals (DC) with a 27-ball 84 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on April 27 (Saturday) to help his side to 257/4. He brought up his fifty off just 15 deliveries, the second time he has done that in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Fraser-McGurk has made the opening spot his own in David Warner's absence and it does not look like he is going to give that up any time soon.

"My role is to go out there and score as many as possible in the first six. If I go on [after that], I go on. If I get 1s and 2s, it's only either because I've mishit it or maybe it's the last ball of the over [laughs]," Fraser-McGurk in the mid-innings break.

Speaking about his power-hitting, Fraser-McGurk believes that the key is to have a strong core.

"I feel like [hard-hitting ability] is something I've always had. It's about developing a nice base, being as still as possible and swing big. There's a lot of timing involved, it's about having a nice, strong core and upper body."

The Australia batter has slammed 247 runs for DC this season at an impressive strike rate of 237.50, which includes as many as three fifties in five innings.
