After an unproductive powerplay (Rajasthan Royals were 43/2 after the powerplay), Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag added 130 runs for the third wicket from 78 balls. Both batters scored their third fifty of the season. Parag made 76 off 48 balls while Samson was unbeaten on 68 from 38 balls.
Gill anchors a stiff chase
Skipper Shubman Gill was the heart and soul of Gujarat’s run chase. He scored 72 off 44 balls. Gill had a slow start but scored 31 off his last 14 balls to set the stage for the finishers.
Kuldeep Sen’s three-for
Kuldeep Sen, playing his first match of the season, picked three wickets in his first 10 balls. However, in his final over, the 19th of Gujarat’s innings, he conceded 20 runs.
Gujarat’s late charge
Gujarat Titans hammered 75 runs in the last five overs, 13 more than RR’s tally. 37 of these runs came in the final two overs, the most scored by GT in the final two overs to complete a run chase.
Rashid, the MVP
Rashid Khan mustered 24 not out off 11 balls, batting at number eight. Gujarat needed 2 off the final ball and Rashid carted it for a four to clinch a last-ball thriller. He also picked 1/18 in his four overs, finishing with the most economical spell of the night among bowlers who bowled their complete quota.
