A 'Fizzy' spell
Mustafizur Rahman bowled an excellent spell, finishing with 4 for 29, his best ever figures in IPL. He first removed Faf du Plessis (35) and Rajat Patidar (0) in the same over and then returned to get rid of Virat Kohli (21) and Cameron Green (18) in the 12th over to put Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in command. All his wickets were off deliveries that were either back-of-length or short.
DK, Rawat's rescue act
Dinesh Karthik (38) and Anuj Rawat (48) bailed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) out of a precarious situation, putting on 95 off just 50 deliveries to take them to a competitive total of 173 for 6.
Dube's matured knock
Shivam Dube survived a barrage of short deliveries from the RCB pacers to guide CSK to a comfortable victory. In the end, Dube finished unbeaten on 34 off 28, showing that he can hang around when needed and curtail the big shots.
Siraj's off day
RCB’s best bowler in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) , Mohammed Siraj had a day to forget as he was all over the place against CSK, conceding 38 runs in his four overs. Not one ball he bowled today would have gone on to hit the wickets.
A game-changing 17th over
Before Alzarri Joseph came on to bowl the 17th over of the match, CSK had 68% chance of winning, according to the Criclytics win projector. That over had everything: boundaries, overthrows, wides and byes. He conceded 16 in that over as a result and CSK’s win percentage shot up to 87%.
