The first trade, officially recognised by the Indian Premier League (IPL), was confirmed on November 13 (Thursday) as Shardul Thakur moved to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The all-rounder, not initially picked at the IPL 2025 auction, was signed by the Justin Langer-led LSG management as a replacement for Mohsin Khan, who got injured ahead of last season.
Revealing the price at which the Mumbai Ranji Trophy skipper was traded, the IPL in their press release wrote, “Shardul is all set to represent Mumbai Indians, following a trade between the two franchises. The all-rounder has been traded to Mumbai Indians for his existing player fee of INR 2 crore.”
It is yet to be revealed as to which player Mumbai will let go of to accommodate Shardul and which player will LSG pick to fill in the gap created by Shardul’s trade.
However, multiple reports have emerged saying that talks between Sunrisers Hyderabad and LSG are at an advanced stage to trade Mohammed Shami to his state’s team from the Telangana-based franchise.
There are also rumours that Mumbai is looking to get back Ishan Kishan as well. Though the only confirmation that we have is that Shardul has been traded to MI from LSG.
