It has been well over a month since India won the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, beating Pakistan in the final, yet have been denied the trophy. India refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC chairman, who is also the interior minister of Pakistan.
The ongoing political tension between the two countries made things on the field as well, as the two teams did not shake hands in any of the three matches they played each other in the tournament.
According to reports, the topic of the Asia Cup handover is expected to be brought up by the BCCI during the ICC quarterly meeting on November 7 (Friday) in Dubai.
“Friday is when all board heads will be meeting in the ICC Board Meeting and the Asia Cup trophy handover issue, still in limbo, will be raised there by the BCCI. As of now, nothing has emerged on the trophy handover despite a formal letter written to ACC,” a source told IANS.
India won the Asia Cup final in Dubai on September 28 by five wickets.
