It was a 160-165 match - Mohsin Khan

The LSG left-arm pacer also felt that the Mumbai Indians were 15-20 runs short at Ekana

Yesterday, on April 30, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow to register their sixth win of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Batting first, Mumbai were struck hard in the powerplay by the LSG pacers and got off to the worst possible start, having lost four wickets for just 28 runs. Post which Nehal Wadhera (46) and Tim David (35*) carried out a rescue act and put up 32 runs in three overs that allowed MI to breach the 140 mark.

However, that proved too few for the LSG batters, as Marcus Stoinis showed in his innings of 62 off just 45 deliveries and helping Lucknow chase the 145 target on a gripping track.

Speaking about the surface and the conditions in the press conference, LSG’s left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan felt that there was some help for him as a pacer when he mixed up his deliveries.

“The ball was gripping a bit. The cutters were working. There was something in the wicket. It was a low-scoring game. Every match 200-210 has become normal, but today was a 160-165 match and they were 15-20 runs short. We also bowled well,” Mohsin said.

In the last game at the venue, LSG bowlers were comprehensively beaten by the likes of Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, where they chased 197 with an over remaining.

The LSG bowling attack made a resounding comeback in the game against MI and stopped them 15 runs below par. Speaking on this turnaround, Mohsin said, “Sir, we only work on our bowling in the practice sessions. What wasn’t happening in the last game happened in this, and it was all due to our planning and execution of those plans.”

This was Mumbai’s third consecutive loss, and they are currently second from last after just three wins in 10 games. Meanwhile, LSG is in third position with six wins and four losses.
