5 factors that helped RCB slay SRH at Uppal

SRH had a chance to go second in the points table but fell 35 runs short against RCB in Hyderabad

Kohli slowdown

Virat Kohli (51 off 43) got off to a superb start but slowed down in the end. He was on 32 off 16 (5 boundaries) but then managed just 19 runs off his next 27 deliveries before getting dismissed. Luckily for him and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) that did not cost them in the end.

Patidar takes on Markande

Rajat Patidar slammed a 20-ball 50 that included as many as five sixes – with four of them coming off consecutive deliveries –  against Mayank Markande, which shifted the momentum back in RCB’s favour.

All-round(ed) Green

Cameron Green has finally come to the party for RCB, slamming an unbeaten 20-ball 37 to take RCB past 200 before pulling off a tough catch to remove Heinrich Klaasen. It didn't end there, he showed great application with the ball, picking up the wickets of Pat Cummins (31) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (13) to effectively close the game.

SRH crumble in powerplay

RCB had picked up just seven powerplay wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 before their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

But they turned a corner in this game and broke SRH’s back with the wickets of Travis Head (1), Abhishek Sharma (31), Aiden Markram (7) and Heinrich Klaasen (7) to put the Men in Orange on the back foot.

Clinical Karn Sharma

After nearly taking RCB home with the bat last game, Karn Sharma was at his clinical best with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/29, which included a superb catch off his own bowling to dismiss Abdul Samad (10).

He bowled nearly 60% of his deliveries in the good length area, which bore dividends.
